► Minimum System Requirements

In order to get the best performance from your O·M·N·I software and to make your experience online as enjoyable as possible, you should be equipped with the following:

· 486DX/33 or faster computer
· Microsoft Windows version 3.1 or higher
· 9600 baud or faster modem (with a 16550AFN UART)
· 16-color VGA minimum (256 color-capable video card and monitor preferred)
· A mouse or other Windows-compatible pointing device
· Microsoft®-compatible sound card (optional)

O-M-N-I runs on Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows NT, and OS/2.

If you have ordered any edition of the complete O·M·N·I Online/Internet BBS software package, or if you are upgrading your current O·M·N·I BBS installation … this is the installation software you need to download.

You have two download options: If you want to download the whole O·M·N·I BBS Install as a single ZIP file, select o-m-n-i.zip. If you prefer to download each disk of the complete install as a separate ZIP file, select omni_d1.zip, omni_d2.zip, omni_d3.zip, and omni_d4.zip.

► O·M·N·I Term Client Software Version 1.53 - Release 97.03.11

The O·M·N·I Term client is the special software which is used for calling and logging on to online/Internet BBS sites running on O·M·N·I software around the world. It is available FREE of charge to anyone—and includes complete easy-to-follow instructions on how to quickly install it and enter the Internet address (or phone number) for any worldwide O·M·N·I online site(s) you want to call.

For Example: For O·M·N·I Preservation Project BBS enter … term.o-m-n-i.com (for O·M·N·I TCP/IP) or 1-000-000-0000 (for O·M·N·I Dial-up).

NOTE: If you are downloading the complete O·M·N·I BBS Version 1.53 Install package below, you do not need to download the O·M·N·I Term client separately—it is already included FREE as part of your main O·M·N·I installation!

► O·M·N·I Term Client for Distribution on 1.44MB Disks

The regular install of the O·M·N·I Term is too large to fit onto a single disk. This caused problems for sysops who wanted to distribute the O·M·N·I Term on two 3.5" disks to prospective users of their BBS. Because of this we created the two disk install version of the O-M-N-I Term which you can download by clicking the TERM.ZIP link below. Please also read all of the usage guidelines below.

The file TERM.ZIP contains the following four files:

• README.TXT  Usage guidelines
• SETUP.EXE  O·M·N·I Term install disk #1
• SETUP.W02  O·M·N·I Term install disk #2
• INSTALL.WRI   O-M-N-I Term installation instructions

If you want to distribute install disks for the O·M·N·I Term to potential users of your BBS, you should place SETUP.EXE on the first disk, and SETUP.W02 and the second disk. It is also recommended that you provide a printed copy of INSTALL.WRI along with the install disks to make installation of the O-M-N-I Term easier (this not required however).

The file README.TXT should not be distributed with the Term and is only for the sysop's information.

System Name & Disk Label Guidelines

Please note that the O·M·N·I License Agreement states that the trademarked name O-M-N-I can not be used as part of the name of your BBS or online system. You can choose to state that your system is "Using the O·M·N·I (tm) BBS for Windows" or is "Running the O·M·N·I (tm) BBS for Windows".

If you do choose to use the name O·M·N·I on your disk labels, you must place a trademark symbol next to each occurrence. You can either use (tm) or the character code 153 in most Windows typefaces. You must also place the following text on your labels if using the O·M·N·I name:

► Using the O·M·N·I Term Logo on Your Web Page

O·M·N·I sysops who have a home page on the web for their BBS may want to have a link to download the O·M·N·I Term client for users to connect with. To make this easier we have created the "O·M·N·I Term Download It Now!" animated logo that you see above.

To include this logo on your web page, just add the following HTML to your web page:

This will use the GIF image stored on our web server and also download the Term from our corporate FTP site. We prefer that you use this method so that if the GIF appearance changes in the future it will be updated on your web page. Also by linking to download from our web site you reduce traffic on your own site as well as the amount of storage space you must have. It also ensures that the user is always downloading the most up to date version of the Term.
