O·M·N·I Ping Server

The O·M·N·I Ping Server makes it possible to operate an O·M·N·I BBS on the Internet without having a fixed IP address. This is useful for systems that can't afford a dedicated Internet connection. We operate a Ping
Server here at o-m-n-i.com. You can configure your O·M·N·I Server to send "pings" to this server whenever you are on the Internet. When our Ping Server receives this it records your current IP address and the fact
that you are online.

Each site that is listed on the Ping Server has a site code which uniquely identifies them. This site code also becomes a fixed Internet address which you can give out to your users. For example, if your site code is "MyBBS" then you can give your users an Internet address of [email protected] for your BBS.

This service is provided free of charge by O·M·N·I Software. To obtain your site code send the following information to sysop [at] o-m-n-i [dot] com:

• Desired site code (up to 16 characters, alphanumeric characters only, no spaces or punctuation allowed)
• BBS name
• Sysop's full name
• Sysop's Internet e-mail address
• BBS web home page URL
• Single paragraph description

You should hear back from us within a few working days confirming your site code and giving you instructions on how to configure your O·M·N·I Server to send pings to our Ping Server.
