For help answering questions, it is highly recommended that you visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) area. Once you are in this area, you can search and view all the available articles for any component program that make up O·M·N·I. For more specific technical questions, you may send an e-mail message via the Internet to: bbsomni [at] o-m-n-i [dot] com As the subject of your message, please specify "Tech Support:" (without the quotes) followed by your real name. We will then respond either by e-mail or a voice phone call to answer your question. Internet Listservers O·M·N·I Software maintains a number of listservers which cover different topics. A listserver is a list of e-mail addresses that is automatically maintained by the O·M·N·I Headquarters server. When you are a member of the listserver—that is, on the current list of e-mail addresses—you can send an e-mail message to it. Then all other members of the listserver will receive an e-mail copy of your message . . . to which they may also reply with an answer. In this way, many O·M·N·I system operators can work together to create new ideas and solve problems that anyone might be experiencing. And, of course, O·M·N·I Software Technical Support staff regularly read all the messages in the listserver and respond to unanswered questions. Here is a list of the current listservers which you may subscribe to: HELP: The general tech support listserver. BBS-LIST: A much more technical discussion of the O·M·N·I BBS and writing add-on software for it. To obtain technical support, it is always best to first use the HELP listserver. Once you have become more experienced, or wish to develop add-on software, you can join either of the other two listservers. To subscribe to the listserver(s) of your choice, simply follow the procedure below: 1. Compose an Internet e-mail message to: listserver [at] o-m-n-i [dot] com 2. In the body of the message type: subscribe help 3. Send the e-mail message. 4. You will receive back a welcome message to confirm that you are now a member of the listserver. Note that in step #2 above you should replace the word "help" with "bbs-list" (without the quotes) if you are joining the BBS-LIST listserver instead of the HELP listserver. Once you are a member you can post a message to everyone on the list by sending an e-mail message to help [at] o-m-n-i [dot] com for the HELP listserver or bbs-list [at] o-m-n-i [dot] com for the BBS-LIST listserver. |
